Apparently Dragon's Dogma is Dark Souls-levels of Difficult
I feel like a broken record since I made a similar thread about Max Payne 3 a couple of weeks ago, but it seems old-school hardcore games are coming back into fashion, and this is more a heads-up for Phil than anything.
People who have the game early are saying that the game is reaching Dark Souls territory in terms of difficulty levels.
- Don't parry or dodge and you die.
- Rush into enemies and you die.
- Running the fuck away is sometimes the only legitimate option.
- Manage your pawns efficiently or they'll be absolutely fucking useless.
- Night is night; you can't see a thing unless you have a torch, and that only gives you limited illumination.
- Going out into the wilderness at night is usually suicide.
- No boundaries or notifications to stop you wandering into higher level areas where you will be killed instantly.
- The demo is nothing like what the game's actual difficulty level is.
The list goes on...
To illustrate, here's a .gif of a player finally defeating a (reportedly very difficult) troll only to have it fall on him and squash him to death:

On the plus side, at least you don't lose XP and have to retrieve it when you die.
So what do we think? Is the playthrough going to be rage-filled, like Max Payne 3, and may we even see another complete quit, like Dark Souls?
Cannot wait for this playthrough
