Dragon's Dogma huge issues on 360
05-22-2012 03:24 PM · Post: #1 Dragon's Dogma huge issues on 360
360 version is not as good. I was reading some review 360 has slow down and alot of texture pop in apparently. Its similar to Bayonetta in but 360 copy is worse.

You're a little late to the party. This has been discussed extensively in the other Dragon's Dogma thread and Phil just talked about it in this week's unboxing video.

Installing the game to the hard drive eliminates most, if not all, of the issues. And since the PS3 version requires an install anyway, there's really little difference between them.

but thing is he reviews most games out box no research etc...

a game should work with no install on 360 so i say he plays without it and give fair review.

What are you talking about? That is nonsense. So the PS3 version has to be rated down because the installation of the game is obligatory and the 360 has to be rated down because it sucks without the installation?

Actually I agree with xnoxiousx. You're forgetting that not all Xbox 360s have a Hard Drive whereas PS3s come with a hard drive as standard. Some people will have no choice but to play with the slow-down and this is a fault of the game and the developer. The consumer shouldn't have to go out and buy a hard-drive for their Xbox 360 so they can play the game without slow-down.

That's a very good point. I forgot Xbox consoles can come with small or non-existent hard drives, and owners of said consoles would be completely shit out of luck when it comes to playing this game.

I don't think Phil should just not install it to prove this point, but he should definitely take it into account when it comes to the review.

I kind of disagree and agree. For PC for example, you may very well have to go out and buy additional components to be able to play a game properly. If everyone buys different PCs today around the same price range they're likely going to perform similarly, but if a game comes out that demands more they might have to go out and buy additional things to play it effectively whereas people who spent a bit more money (say for a better graphics card, or someone who bought a console with a hard drive in that case) would be fine.

I don't know if I agree that it's the developers fault that consumers have to go out and buy a hard drive. They offered up a solution to the problems so if you want to play a game with the fixes you should go out and spend some money on a hard drive. If they were to force you to buy some sort of software or hardware exclusive to this one title, I would have a problem with it, but a hard drive is something you can use for a wide variety of things and I don't see an issue with it.

There's one MAJOR difference however. Requirements are advertised on all games, PC games and Console games alike. PC games show on the back of the box what are the minimum and recommended system requirements of your PC. While I don't have a copy of the game, I'd be willing to bet, and also because Microsoft wouldn't allow it to be sold because of the way they've enhanced the console over it's lifespan, that it only says it requires 2MB or so for a game save. Not that it REQUIRES installation. It's a little hard to explain but I hope you understand.

Well, if someone uses a 360 without an HDD this will probably not be the first game havng issues.
And about that minimum/recommended system specs, you can't demand playing a game in it's full glory/without any problems only using the minimum requirements.
Anybody who still plays the 360 without an HDD and complains about how shitty certain games run, are idiots and whiners in my opinion.
