Skyrim Creation Kit to be Released in January
It's been three weeks since the launch of Skyrim and it has already seen an overwhelming positive response from new and old fans alike. However, there is one thing that PC players have been craving for since 11/11/11 and that is the Creation Kit. This modding tool, which was used to create the game itself, will allow modders to create more complex mods to go alongside over 1000 mods that have already been created.
Well, never fear PC Gamers, for it seems that Bethesda have heard your call. Bethesda have just posted on their very own Beth Blog that the Creation Kit is slated for a January release with some very special news.
The Creation Kit is going to be released with complete integration with Steam Workshop, allowing PC players to share, rate and download free user-created content easily, at the push of a button. Do not fear however, if you're already comfortable using an existing modding website then feel free to continue using it. Everything about the Creation Kit will still be completely open, to do with as you see fit. Bethesda are also working on Wiki's as well as instructional videos in order to make learning this tool as easy and pain-free as possible.
Many PC Players have been in uproar over this January release date and are worried that this strive to integrate the Creation Kit with the Steam Workshop is what is pushing the release so far back. Most agree that there are many bugs that could be being fixed by the modding community right now using the Kit, but instead we have to sit with a buggy game until January.
There is currently no word on whether the Steam Workshop will feature exclusive mods that are P2P-only, similar to Team Fortress 2, however it is confirmed that the 'main focus' of Steam Workshop is the sharing of free user-created content.
