I've been seeing a fan theory floating around the net the past few days about the closing lines from PT, involving a possible hidden meaning behind them. I think you guys might find it interesting. For those who need a refresher, the final lines are spoken by the radio host, supposedly from the point of view of one of the murdered children. The lines are: Dad was such a drag. Every day he'd eat the same kind of food, dress the same, sit in front of the same kind of games... Then one day, he goes and kills us all! He couldn't even be original about the way he did it. I'm not complaining. I was dying of boredom anyway- but guess what? I will be coming back, and I'm bringing my new toys with me. The theory is that Kojima threw this into the game as an allusion to his dissolving relationship with Konami, "Dad" representing Konami and the voice of the murdered child representing Kojima. "Dad" doing the same old things every day represents how Kojima was pressured into making Metal Gear for longer than he would have if it were strictly his decision, which he has in fact admitted to, if I'm not mistaken. "Dad" killing us all represents the dissolving relationship and possible departure from Konami and the resulting cancellation of future projects. The final line is Kojima declaring that his pending departure form the company would not be the end for him, and that he would move on to bigger things. Of course, there's absolutely no confirmation of any of this, but I personally wouldn't put it past Kojima putting this in there. What do you guys think?
