Mile 22 - Review (2018)

The Good
Iko Uwais was the only one who had a good performance

Lauren Cohan is guess was fine.

Its not completely unwatchable at least just generic.

The Bad
Peter Berg's direction is sadly very bad especially at the way her handles action in this movie it almost feels like 2000's fast pace shaky cam action where you can't barely see and that only like worked for the Bourne movies.

Mark Wahlberg does his generic Wahlberg voice he does in the his bad films and he's just plays a generic character they explain who he is in the opening credits but after you get nothing, his character is so fucking annoying though.

John Malkovich is phoning it in with his stupid fake hair.

Ronda Rousey still can't act.

The editing is a complete mess like its so fast paced and it looks horribly.

There's a Beginning and Ending but never a middle its like the first act and third act just collide into each other.

Overall: This is a huge skip sadly for being Berg and Wahlberg's 4th movie together and this is the worst of them with Lone Survivor, Deepwater Horizon, and Patriots Day all being superior.

Overall Grade: D+

Crazy Rich Asians - Review (2018)

The Good
The Performances across the board are fantastic

Jon M. Chu actually good direction.

Awkwafina really stands out in this.

Peter Chiarelli and Adele Lim great screenplay.

Ken Jeong is the funniest since the first Hangover.

The production design is amazing

The Bad
It can be a little predictable with a simple plot.

Overall: Really enjoyable Romantic Comedy that is better than the trailers show.

Overall Grade: A-

The Happytime Murders - Review (2018)

The Good
Bill Barreta as Phil Phillips is the best part

Melissa McCarthy is somewhat good and somewhat bad in this movie, but the chemistry with her character and Phil Phillips is great and their banter just sad it couldn't be in a better movie.

Maya Rudolph is hilarious.

 Leslie David Baker is good

The sex scene is hilarious.

The murder scenes are pretty unique

The Bad
Ben Falcone produced this ugh

Brian Henson L's generic Direction

Elizabeth Banks is completely wasted.

Joel McHale is pretty much a moron.

Its just raunchy and tries to be shocking instead of telling a entertaining story.

Plot is pretty generic.

They even copy Basic Instinct with a puppet its quite disturbing.

Some of the marketing spoiled some of the movie.

Overall: Not completely terrible, definitely not the worst movie of the year, like there's so much worse, it just could of been better.

Overall Grade: C-

Mom and Dad - Review (2018)

The Good
Nicolas Cage's completely over the top performance

Selma Blair's performance.

Anne Winters had a nice character arc.

Robert T. Cunningham I thought was a standout he was champ

Zackary Arthur is fine

It has a interesting premise.

The 3rd act is bat shit insane

Some of the choreographed scenes were great

The Bad
Some of the style of editing and visuals are bad

The dumb ending

Some stuff does go way to far.

Overall: If you want a bat shit insane Nic Cage movie this is it.

Overall Grade: C+

The Spy Who Dumped Me - Review (2018)

The Good
For the most part the performances are good, Milla Kunis is great

Kate McKinnon is somewhat funny and somewhat too much of a cartoon

Sam Heughan is great

Ivanna Sakhno is awesome

Susanna Fogel decent direction.

The Bad
The Tone is all over the place

Its weirdly dark and violent at times

They try to make you care for Drew the ex in flashbacks that don't entirely work.

Overall: A OK action comedy film that probably will be overlooked.

Overall Grade: C+

I just came back from seeing Christopher Robin with my brother, Edward.  All I have to say is, as a soon to be 24 year old man, I am humbled that I had the absolute joy sand pleasure of reliving one of the greatest and happiest moments, memories, and experiences of my childhood.  The Adventures of Winnie the Pooh was one of my absolute favorite Disney franchises growing up as a kid.  I watched tons of episodes of that show as a little boy via VHS and television.  As I watched this movie, it felt more so like a long awaited return and continuation than a reboot and re-imagination.  This was as good if not better of an early birthday present that I could've imagined.  Christopher Robin is IMO one of the best films of 2018 and as of right now my favorite film of 2018.

Overall grade: A+

Searching - Review (2018)

The Good
Aneesh Chaganty's excellent direction and his and Sev Ohanian's excellent script.

John Cho gives his best performance yet.

Debra Messing is also great.

This does the smartphone and computer point of view better than Unfriended does, Screen Gems: 1 and Blumhouse 0.

The movie is very engaging and interesting and makes you invested.

Its keeps you guessing with each question and theory you might have it gives a answer or two until the final reveal at the end which is great.

The Facebook and YouTube reactions to Margot's classmates with them saying she was their best friend are hilarious cause their a bunch of bullshit and that's so truthful today lol.

The Bad
Its a spoiler, but someone does "something" that I guess is going to far for their child I guess.

Overall: This was another movie I saw barely anything on did not figure it would've been this good and was very surprised, sadly just like Blindspotting I don't know if enough people will see this.

Overall Grade: A

BlacKkKlansman - Review (2018)

The Good
Spike Lee's excellent direction being a return to form for him.

John David Washington is fantastic as Ron Stallworth

Adam Driver is also fantastic as Flip Zimmerman

Washington and Driver's chemistry is great their easily the best part of the movie.

Topher Grace is great as David Duke

The Humor is great it has a great mixture of humor and drama.

There's a great scene where a man explains this tragic story and it was very powerful.

The Real footage at the end is a great message that we should not go back those terrible times and the tribute of Heather Heyer was a nice touch and it nearly had me to tears

The Bad
It might be a little to long.

Overall: This is one of Spike Lee's best movies definitely his best in years and makes up for his terrible 2013 Oldboy remake.

Overall Grade: A

The Nun - Review (2018)

The Good
The performances from everyone are great especially Taissa Farmiga and Demián Bichir.

Cârța Monastery is definately eerie

The Bad
Corin Hardy's mediocre direction

LAZY lame Jump Scares galore Jesus christ its like no one learns from James Wan.

Valak / The Nun is barely in it ans the movie gives it a over explained backstory which makes Valak not scary at all.

This has the same writer of 2014's Annabelle which explains a lot, (this is better, but still) and its pretty boring and for some reason there's weird humor which both The Conjuring and Conjuring 2 has that but they are written and directed better.

Did I say it was boring because ITS FREAKING BORING and when its boring then its not really scary.
The Lazy ending Jesus christ.

Overall: Sadly The Nun is a huge disappointment and maybe is a sign to stop with these spin off stories and just focus on The Warrens with James Wan directing.

Overall Grade: D-

Unfriended: Dark Web - Review (2018)

The Good
The performances from the cast is way better than the first films cast plus their more likeable.

I think Hackers are a better story than a dead girl haunting people.

There is some creepy imagery

It is shot better than the original.

The Bad
There's two endings 1 is horrible and the other I guess less bad, but like just make 1 consistent ending.

The deaths at the end happen so fast

Its pretty predictable.

Overall: Pretty decent horror sequel that I feel is somewhat better the original.

Overall Grade: C+

The Predator - Review (2018)

The Good
Trevante Rhodes is the best part and character of the film.

It is very Violent

Some Easter Eggs are cool

The Bad
Shane Black's direction doesn't feel like a Shane Black film and you can tell Fox fucked with this movie, it also feels Robert K. Weiss and David Zucker made this movie cause it does not feel like Shane Black.

The plot makes no fucking sense

The CGI is atrocious

A lot of the Humor does not work

Boyd Holbrook tries his best, but his character is just meh.

A lot of the other characters are not great like Alfie Allen who is just eh

It makes fun of Mental Health

Olivia Munn was miscast and once again proves she can't act.

Sterling K. Brown who is fantastic in everything is just a one note corporate generic villain.

Keegan-Michael Key who is funny in a lot of things just feels like a cartoon same with Thomas Jane's character

The third act is a mess

The Ending is sooooo BAD  its exactly the same as Independence Day: Resurgence which makes sense cause that is a Fox film so Fox wanted to do it again.

Overall: In what could of been a great Shane Black Predator movie, ends up being a forgetful Predator film that Fox fucked up.

Overall Grade: D-

Peppermint - Review (2018)

The Good
Jennifer Gardner's performance

She getting revenge is pretty awesome

The action scenes with Gardner.

Even though its not great its not like worst movie of the year like Rotten Tomatoes says I've seen much worse this year.

When the thing you see in the trailers goes down it actually is pretty sad.

The Bad
From the director of Taken so you know how this film is gonna play out.

The trial scene is so fucking stupid and the Judge is a god damn moron.

The editing is horrible and weird slow motion.

The score is pretty generic

The whole first 30 minutes is a flashback explaining the movie like what did it need 30 minutes to do that.

Its pretty predictable cause I mean its been done a thousand times with no twist or any thrill of fun.

All the other characters are pretty forgettable.

Overall: A pretty generic Revenge thriller with the only great thing is Jennifer Gardner.

Overall Grade: C-

TBH, I knew this film wasn't going to be that.  Nothing beats the OG Predator movie.  That film is a classic, a pop culture classic.

It could of been great cause of Shane Black, but Fox decided to fuck with him

Mandy - Review (2018)

The Good
Nicolas Cage's fantastic and badass performance definitely his best in years which is carried by his emotion and his hilarious but awesome outburst.

Panos Cosmatos's wonderful and Metal direction.

Andrea Riseborough is good as Mandy.

The other performances of the Cult are Bonkers.

The beautiful Cinematography

Jóhann Jóhannsson's score is amazing.

The film goes into 3 acts and the third act is fucking bonkers and gorey as hell.

Nic Cage forges a fucking Metal Axe

Its set in the 80's

The practical effects on the weird biker creatures.

The Bad
It might be a nit pick, but it might be too long, but I have no idea what you cut out I guess the guy Jacking Off Scene, but other that its perfect.

Overall: Finally after 3 Months of terrible Horror Movies we finally get a fantastic one and it has Nic Cage in it lol.

Overall Grade: A+

Hotel Artemis - Review (2018)

The Good
The Performances are good from the cast which has
Jodie Foster, Sterling K. Brown, Jeff Goldblum, Sofia Boutella, Brian Tyree Henry, Jenny Slate, Zachary Quinto, Charlie Day, Dave Bautista, and Kenneth Choi

The Violence is great.

The premise of Hotel Artemis.

Jodie Fosters back story is one of the best in the movie.

The Hotel's production design is fantastic.

The Bad
Its not a original concept since movies have done this before especially like John Wick of sort and that movie does it better

The first act takes a while to get through to actually tell its plot and when it does it tries to do a lot.

A lot of plot points don't payoff much

The suspense never pays off

It just puts its characters somewhere without explanation.

The Riots don't seem like a threat.

Overall: This was a fine movie that didn't really meet its Ambitions that it wanted to do if it did this movie would have been a lot better.

Overall Grade: C+

White Boy Rick - Review (2018)

The Good
Matthew McConaughey is the best part of the movie

Yann Demange's direction is good even though this is a weaker film than his other film 71.

The other cast are good to like RJ Cyler, Jennifer Jason Leigh, Brian Tyree Henry. Eddie Marsan.

The production design is good

The Bad
Richie Merritt doesn't have the charisma he needs to make the character bigger he just sizzles out.

This probably should of been a Miniseries than a movie cause there is ALOT of this history of White Boy Rick missing in the movie, the story is more complex but there is a lot of it missing to go bigger.

There's a side plot with the Sister that could of had more development time.

Overall: A decent film to watch even though the actor playing White Boy Rick is not that great and obviously Mr. alright Alright Alright is the best part of the film.

Overall Grade: C+

The House with a Clock in Its Walls - Review (2018)

The Good
Its Eli Roth's best movie since Cabin Fever (2002)

Jack Black and Cate Blanchett are great

Owen Vaccaro isn't annoying.

The humor works (except for the Poop Jokes)

It feels like old school Amblin

The Visuals Effects for the most part are great even with a $40 Million budget (which shows The Predator with a $88 Million as a even embarrassment)

It actually has a nice message.

The final act is completely insane.

The Bad
The tone is quite all over the place.

Those god damn poop jokes.

Theres a little too much going on.

Overall: Quite surprise for Eli Roth this year after making a terrible movie like Death Wish this year, makes it up for making a quite entertaining film.

Overall Grade: B

A Simple Favor - Review (2018)

The Good
Anna Kendrick's performance she basically plays very innocent with a dark past.

Blake Lively gives her best performance yet

Paul Feig's Direction definatly makes it up for making that Ghostbusters abomination.

Henry Golding is great (from Crazy Rich Asians)

The twist and turns are great.

Theodore Shapiro's Score

The Bad
Some of the humor doesn't work cause it makes the serious tone all weird ts mainly better as a thriller.

There a weird somewhat incest side plot that comes out of no where.

It just ends.

Overall: Thank God Paul Feig can still make great films after his Ghostbusters abomination and with him making possibly his 2nd best film.

Overall Grade: B+

Eighth Grade - Review (2018)

The Good
Bo Burnham's Direction and Screenplay

Elsie Fisher's star making performance

Josh Hamilton is also really good.

It has an amazing commentary on today's social media society

The writing is so good cause it is relatable.

There a nice Rick & Morty mention that's always a plus.

The balancing of acts with YouTube videos is well placed.

The Bad
There's a scene in a car which is well done but felt very uncomfortable watching to be honest.

Kayla focuses on one boy who's just a idiot instead of the one who is goofy and weird and you only really see him twice which is disappointing.

Overall: Really enjoyed this film from first time director and YouTube star Bo Burnham and can't wait to see Elsie Fisher in more films.

Overall Grade: A-
