Forum Rules & Regulations

Recommended Posts

These are the official rules & regulations of the The King of Hate Forums. Members agree to these terms upon registration of their account. Any members seen violating these rules will be reprimanded appropriately. Members are also encouraged to use the report function if they feel another member is breaking these rules.

Account-Specific Rules

1. No creating usernames that are similar to current staff usernames. Also, do not try to use a staff username with an alternate prefix or postfix. For example the following are not accepted:

  • d4rks1d3ph1l
  • darksydejohn (it does not matter if the name is different as an entire entity, if must be completely different; i.e. bear no resemblance to the original username)
  • DSPRocks (any names like this (with a prefix that is not allowed) will also be subject to an instant ban the current members of staff)

2. Creating and posting with multiple usernames (accounts) is also not allowed. If you are unhappy with your current account, one time alterations can be made.

  • If you are trying to bypass moderation of your account (removal of posting rights, signature or avatar) then your account will be banned.
  • Creating a new account because your last one had a high warning level will also result in a ban.

3. Offensive usernames, titles, profile information, avatars and/or signatures will result in a warning(1) and will be removed

  • Any form of racism, sexism or messages of offensive nature will be subjected to this rule (continued breakage of this rule will result in your account being moderated(2)).

4. Any accounts registering using junk/disposable email addresses will be banned on sight.

  • This is assumed to be an attempt to bypass moderation of yourself and your account and will not be tolerated.

Posting-specific rules

1. Do not post any form of illegal or suspicious software.

  • This includes files from file-sharing websites such as RapidShare, Mediafire and Hotfile. Any files that were not approved by any member of staff will be removed from the forum and a warning will be placed on your account.
  • We do not accept torrent files on our forum; they will result in your account having a warning being placed against it.

2. Swearing is allowed but not encouraged.

  • Sexism (we do not accept this under any circumstances).
  • Racism (we do not accept this under any circumstances).
  • Threats (this includes threats made to people who do not use our website).
  • Discrimination of any other kind.
  • Trolling (purposefully trying to cause controversy and provoking a negative reaction in other people).
  • Insulting other members or excessive name calling.

3. No Nudity or other Obscene Imagery

  • Anything along these along these lines that a moderator deems inappropriate for the forum can and will be removed.
  • Exactly what is and isn't appropriate is completely up to moderator discretion.
  • If there is any doubt about posting the image/media, don't post it or check with a staff-member.

4. Use Spoiler Tags Whenever Required

  • Use the spoiler tag function whenever you feel it could be necessary.
  • Please give some sort of clue as to what you're spoiling. (Example: [Attack on Titan episode 7 SPOILER])
  • If it can be perceived as a spoiler. IT IS A SPOILER.
  • The only exception to this is in specific threads for TV Shows etc. which have a Spoiler Warning in the title.
  • Any violation of this will be met with a forum suspension, as you're showing conscious disregard for other members of the forum.

5. Do not double-post or post in the incorrect section.

  • If you think of something you want to add to your post, use the edit(3) function rather than make a separate post immediately following your original.
  • We are okay with you posting your thread in the wrong section if you legitimately do not know where else to post it; a member of staff will move it to the correct section and notify you when they have done so. You can also ask a moderator prior to posting where to post it if you are hesitant.
  • To find threads that have already been created, please use the search(4) function of the forums.
  • Spamming is not allowed, we do not appreciate you using our forum to advertise your own work, unless related to the forum/topic at hand (this includes articles, videos and live streams).

6. Do not intentionally derail(5) threads.

  • If you are caught intentionally derailing threads you will have a warning placed against your account , furthermore any continuation of derailing the thread will cause your account to be banned.
  • We have threads whereat you can post whatever you want given you abide by all other forum rules; you are free to talk about anything in those threads.

7. Please use the Forum Tags feature when creating new threads.

  • Please use the forum tags feature to give general descriptors of the threads content. This helps other forum users to find your content using keywords.
  • This is especially encouraged in the Gaming section, where you are asked to give the genre of the game you are talking about, as well as the "News" tag is you're posting a piece of breaking news.

8. Please do not post DarksydePhil detractor videos.

  • We are well aware that there are reasonable as well as unreasonable criticisms of DarksydePhil on Youtube.
  • We ask that if you have something to say, you say it in your own words.
  • Do not post link to Detractor Video Comments.

9. Please accept a moderator or administrator's judgement.

  • They are here to make the experience as enjoyable and fair as possible, please show them some respect.

Notes

(1) Most warning levels will go away with time, the only exception to this is if a member of staff believes that the rule breach is so severe that the warning must stay there permanently

(2) Moderation is when a member of staff edits your account so your posts much be approved before they become visible to the rest of the forum.

(3) The edit function will allow you to edit your post instead of posting a new one, not only does this look neater, it also saves the database some stress, see below for image.

(4) The search feature will allow you to search all threads for a keyword. This saves you the effort of searching manually, we advise you use this feature to search for existing threads if you want to create a new one.

(5) Derailing a thread means intentionally driving it away from the original topic, for example posting images that are nothing to do with the topic at hand.

Disclaimer

Better, but still needs work. Such as "defamatory videos and/or other material," is other material referring to anti-dsp propaganda aside from video?

Defamation is the communication of a false statement that harms the reputation of an individual person, business, product, etc.

So if the anti-dsp propaganda is false, then I would assume it's against the rules. Though the moderators must keep in mind that if it is true, it's not defamation. Though by law, everyone is innocent until proven guilty. So if you're going to go all anti-dsp up on dis bish, you better have dat proofidence!

Okay so I am going to try to be civilized and just put this out here, but I feel that if we are not allowed to post videos that are against Phil, then we should also not be allowed to post videos that are one-sided against people who don't like Phil as that is not fair at all.

I'm aware of what you're referring to and it has already been removed.

1. No creating usernames that are similar to current staff usernames.

Hope this includes forum members as well, already had people impersonate me within the past week.

5. Do not double-post or post in the incorrect section.

Will Onyx give us the means to delete posts in the near future, to avoid accidental double posting?

(1) Most warning levels will go away with time

What do the warning levels mean, is there a limit until you just start banning people?

1. We look out for people intentionally taking similar names in order to impersonate other members and we take care of that.

2. Not even trial mods can delete posts.

3. Depends on a member to member basis and the gravity of the previous warnings. But getting 3 serious-offence warnings isn't something you want.

9. Please accept a moderator or administrator's judgement.

This needs a more specific ruling, as I think if there is a reason to doubt a moderator's/admin's decision to punish/ban someone, it should be allowed to write a complaint. I ask for this since Phil himself seems to be prone to ban people for no reason other than a bad mood.

You can send an email at moderation@thekingofhate.com if you don't agree with something. That email gets forwarded to me, Phil and the three lead mods.

Judgment, not judgement.

At least in the US.

The whole staff team except Phil is from Europe. That includes me, Icuredit, Static and Kings. As a result we're going to stick with the UK way of spelling.

True, I had a post removed and warned because I told someone to check with the mods before advertising links to their channels. Mod slaps me on the hand then proceeds to repost what I told him, then another mod confirms that advertising isn't allowed. Seems like they don't always work on the same page.

May I ask that this information will make its way into the final rules? I mean it makes sense that there is a way where you can appeal to unjustified punishment. It would mean a good addition to the rules.

I mean, this is like something to be made better than the last forum. Mods/Admins are humans, and make mistakes as such, so there should be a chance for everyone to settle things the diplomatic way.

Not yet. I might set up a subforum where only mods can see peoples posts for applications and appeals.

Well that needs to be changed.

Well its fair enough since we are just trial mods, we can at least lock and hide comments. Plus I can understand why its implemented so that they're not given too much power to abuse.

We should at the very least be able to delete our own posts, if they've only been open for 30 minutes or so.

Okay, it makes a little more sense you have the ability to hide comments. I didn't know that, IPB is very weird.

Its good to see the forum rules are similar to that of the previous forum as I thought it worked well. I believe there was major disagreement between the previous mods and Phil as to interpreting and implementing the rules on alleged slander directed at him. I hope you don't mind me asking but has this been discussed with the new mods to ensure that it does not happen again?
