2016 Ultimate Video Games Battle (The Winner Is Revealed!)

Last year's thread right here:

Ladies and gentlemen, our 6th annual GOTY playoff tourney is finally here.  Once again, 40 games will compete for TKOH Forum title of the 2015 Ultimate Video Game of the Year.  First, let's do a FAQ. 

What is the Ultimate Video Games Battle?

The Ultimate Video Games Battle (UVGB) is the forum's annual GOTY Playoff Tourney.  The tourney began in 2011 and this will be our sixth annual tourney. 

What were the previous results?

In 2011, the forum voted for Batman Arkham City to take home the first championship title while Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception was the runner up, The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim won the third place match, and Deus Ex: Human Revolution rounded out the top 4 placings.  In 2012, The Walking Dead: Season One was the winner with Dishonored coming in second, Borderlands 2 coming in third, and Assassin's Creed III taking fourth.  In 2013, we had a close and interesting final result in which Grand Theft Auto V edged out BioShock Infinite in the finals by just one vote while The Last of Us defeated Tomb Raider in the third place match.  In 2014, Dragon Age: Inquisition dominated its way to the top while South Park: The Stick of Truth was the runner up, Bayonetta 2 won the bronze medal, and The Walking Dead: Season Two finished in 4th.  In 2015, The Witcher III: Wild Hunt won it all while Bloodborne took 2nd, Fallout 4 took 3rd, and Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain took 4th. 

Who can vote and how do I do it?

Any registered forum member can vote.  Everyone can vote with only one ballot in each round.  In each round, YOU MUST VOTE IN EVERY MATCH for your round ballot to count.  If I see you make a mistake, I will PM you, and then I will PM you again on the day before the round ends.  If you don't fix your mistakes, your ballot will NOT count.  If you're not sure on which of the two games in each match is better, just take an educated guess.  When it comes to the semifinals, the two winners will advance to the finals and the two losers will face off in the third place match. 

How are the games selected?

Beginning in 2013, I had a weekly power rankings throughout the year.  Depending on where the game finished in the power rankings was how each game got their respective seed.  I did the power rankings again this year, and when the releases ended, the top 40 games qualified for the tourney.  The top 24 games are already in the second round while the 25-40 seeded games will face off in the first round for the last eight spots in the second round. 

What if there's a tie?

Ties will be broken by the number of the votes each game received throughout the tournament (except the 1st Round vote) in which the game with the most votes added up per round will advance.  Should a tie still be present, a coin toss will decide the winner.

Schedule

1st Round - 12/27-12/30

2nd Round - 12/30-1/2

3rd Round - 1/2-1/5

Quarterfinals - 1/5-1/7

Semifinals - 1/7-1/9

Third Place Match - 1/9-1/11

Finals - 1/11-1/13

Note: Schedule could change if the mercy rule applies in which every match has a clear winner which would cause the round to end early.

These 16 games are competing for the last 8 spots in the 2nd Round and will go up against the top 8 seeded games should they win their 1st Round matches.
