Persona 5

Recommended Posts

Aside from a future run through New game+, I'm basically done with the game at this point. Pretty damn good game, probably my GOTY right now next to Zelda.

Clocked about 130 hours and finished with a level 87 or so Raphael.

Kinda sucks to see Persona 5 pushed back as an afterthought based off of Phil's tweet that he's looking to play either RDR, DS2: SOTFS or GTA Vice City as means to add variety and no mention of Persona 5. Ah well.

He will probably end up finishing it in 2018 lol, I don't understand the obsession some of dsp's fans have with wanting him to repeatedly play dark souls games and GTA vice city even though it's a fun game he has uploaded it before I don't think it will get quite the views he is hoping it will, a repeat of RDR could be ok as enough time has passed since he last played it, I would prefer to see dsp play older games that he hasn't played before.

Re-doing a game can be entertaining. Especially since you can change up the way the game is played. But it kind of stings since I've been wanting to see him play Jak 3 and realize how much better than the second game it is. And Dark Souls was a loser in the polls just like Jak has been multiple times. But it was the runner-up and I think he likes the game more anyways. I've pretty much given up on seeing the game be played unless there is a perfect opportunity where there is nothing else to be played.

Hope we can see some more Persona 5 mixed in the schedule soon. IDK if he will finish the game at all if he wants to avoid any risk of being reported to Atlus since I'm sure some people are waiting to report him and see if they enforce their rule

Well, rip the Persona 5 playthrough since Phil just got a copyright strike by Atlus for 2 persona fusion videos. This is the only time I've heard anything happening in months about anyone getting striked or anything of the sort. Which is total bullshit because there are plenty of videos that go beyond 11/19 that aren't affected one bit. I even watched a persona awakening video today that went beyond the date and nothing is wrong with it. And others have posted every boss fight, even ones that go past that date and aren't affected. So wtf.

You really think he would finish it? He couldn't play past a certain date anyway and had like 3 dungeons left.

It's too bad, that game gets pretty epic after the casino dungeon where shit gets real.

Well before this it didn't seem like anyone was having issues, so I thought that they weren't enforcing it at all. You can see all the spoilery videos out there, so nobody seems to be getting copyright striked except for Phil now. I do hope that this was just a mistake or it could be another Splinter Cell situation which would be pretty messed up, because I really wanted him to beat the game.

It's clearly a mistake, you really don't think they targeted his videos for any reason do you?
This likely has nothing to do with their prior takedown threats. Overreacting is my first assumption, especially since he says nothing happened in the videos.

I mean, it's possible. At least one person from Atlus knows about Phil ("The charm salt is real") and probably isn't a fan of him. It most likely is a mistake since I have no clue how persona fusing spoils anything xD

Atlus actually has a list of policies on how they want people doing videos of Persona 5 that's worth bringing in as a direct source.

The policy list can be found here.

  • Must not focus solely on cutscenes/animated scenes, should prominently feature dungeon crawling/spending time in Tokyo.

A video devoted entirely to fusing Personas does not equal dungeon crawling or spending time in Tokyo and for better or for worse Atlus is probably going to be much more strict about that on youtube than they will with streaming because with YouTube you can edit out certain content to ensure that the main focus is on dungeon crawling and spending time in Tokyo.

It's not a great situation and you can easily argue that Atlus doesn't have a right to do this but it's a situation that Phil should have done more to work around with to avoid getting a copyright strike. He can lash out at Atlus all he wants but he's the one making a living off of YouTube, it's his responsibility to make sure he's playing by the rules because Atlus does have this kind of power over him.

He also should have tried to sort of quietly work with Atlus behind the scenes to deal with the Copyright Strikes, figure out what about those videos they didn't like and seeing what he could do to get this resolved and make sure that this doesn't happen again. It's fairly reasonable to say that if he had worked with him to get this taken care of they'll probably be willing to lift the Copyright Strike if he asked nicely after all of that was said and done.

Instead Phil decided to make a vlog that's just him throwing a temper tantrum about Atlus taking down his videos and thus destroy pretty much any chance of him getting this dealt with peacefully while the SOK get to point and laugh about how Phil got a copyright strike because Phil doesn't know how to keep his mouth shut when it's good for him (see also: The hospital drama.)

Completely incorrect, speculative drama instead of following the facts of the matter that were made public today.

Hello, I suggest you pull your fingers out of your ears and listen to my Prestream from today here, which explains all of the updates on the Atlus situation:

First off, the very first blog post by Atlus regarding the limitations for doing a let's play of Persona 5 said that anything in the velvet room could be shared "to your heart's content." It 100% green lights Persona fusions. But you'd like to completely ignore that fact, and instead fabricate a conspiracy theory about how the copyright strike and flagging is legit, when in reality, any logical human knows it's not.

Second, nothing in the vlog I made was inflammatory at all towards Atlus. It was more of just exasperation at how a company could legitimately put a copyright strike against someone for FOLLOWING THEIR OWN RULES. Nowhere in the video did I insult anyone, Atlus employees included. The video was to spread awareness that no matter what, if you put up Persona 5 vids, you CAN be stricken down even if you're following the rules.

Third, nobody cares what the SOK say or do besides braindead, immature drama-queen dumbfucks. Are you one?

Fourth, I'm already in contact with Atlus (as revealed nearly 12 hours ago on the presteram) and they admitted it's a mistake, and they're working to get the strike removed. They also said they'd look into how/why it even happened, because they agree it doesn't make sense and must be miscommunication.

So, before you go typing completely misinformed posts like above, do 5 seconds of research first.

I guess myself and many other casual viewers, invlusing fans of yours I speak to that enjoy your content are braindead, immature, drama queen dumb fucks.. Just because I find what they say entertaining..

This reminded me of when you mentioned that anyone who watches bigger Let's Players like Pewds or Markiplier are watching montage ads and are for brain dead ADD viewers.. Despite me.. Who watches you also watching many other let's players like them. Viewers have cross over on youtube. They are your competitors as much as they are your allies on this platform. I felt insulted.and couldn't understand what you gained by saying such a thing.. But I gave you the benefit of the doubt and that maybe it came off wrong.

I've always given you that benefit of the doubt.

Yet I have done nothing to purport or spread the information of those you hate in anyway. Have always only offered my opinion on things but am always interested in all sides and perceptions of any given situation. Because I find it interesting just how reactionary all sides are.

I find you to be quite a fascinating Individual. And the inspiration of content that surrounds you I feel is something to be not just studied but admired. Its quite a interesting phenomenon I have never seen before.

As for the topic at hand. That's good to hear it was an error. But IMO I think you may have over reacted a bit when it comes to these things when all that needed to happen was wait a bit longer before becoming so intensely enraged. I don't think its good for your health to feel so bitter and upset so quickly and frequently (your fighting game footage has been quite full of explosive rage at veey frequent levels than before). I am jiat concerned about you man.

Yes its your livelihood, but keeping a level head will always be more effective. At lest it haa for me. Not trying to tell you how to handle anything either so please don't take this the wrong way.

And as always I wish you luck.

I'd meant to put the link in for reference but that didn't happen (today has been one of those days.) Here you go.

Here's the update thing for when they extended the streaming limit to 11/9

"You’re more than welcome to talk/show Confidants, the new combat, the Velvet Room, the dungeons, etc. Just please keep in mind that as a singular story playthrough, viewers are *highly* wary of spoilers!"

I wouldn't call that a 100% green light. There's also the fact that, again, according to those guidelines videos about Persona 5:

"Should prominently feature dungeon crawling/spending time in Tokyo."

If Atlus removes the claim that's in their right but if you continue doing a playthrough of Persona 5 I'd recommend treading a bit more carefully.

As much as I want to see the playthrough return, he can't risk it. Not yet at least. I would wait to see what happens with the other 2 strikes first before even thinking about resuming the playthrough.

I agree and I fear Phil will look the other way and label it a "weeb" game and not play it. I was really digging the playthrough too, damn.

Don't let that weeb thing he said worry you about this game. 1) This wasn't a patron's choice playthrough. 2) He loved the game a lot to the point of it being guaranteed for a GOTY pick.

It's not going to garner enough views, especially as we're moving near the Hardcore Gaming season in late August with Uncharted DLC, Life is Strange Episode 1 and Sonic Mania. I think this playthrough is in serious trouble :( Maybe it gets back up in December since it's a dead month. This into Early August would be the ideal time to put time into Persona 5 but he also has the obligation to do Danganronpa 2 as well.

ok so it's been a week since Phil beat the game, so it's time for me to wrap up my thoughts since I was the most critical about the game of the bunch here

and yes I can confirm everything: some aspects of the gameplay are perfect:  the dungeon gameplay and design, the "puzzles" , and the fact that social links this time give you some challenge and replayability instead of just being a relatively easy harem to put together and make a choice at the end of it.

but the rest, I'm sorry, sucks so hard.

I'm yet to beat persona 1-2, but 4 had the better story,  execution and script. Tight and straight to the point. no chat bs, no small talk, nothing. 5 has an ok cast, I'll give it that, but that's it.

the OST in 2-3-4 is hands down better than 5. game-y at times yet asskicking. I never, NEVER went back to the original combat OST. invasive and annoying.

so yeah too many flaws. I could have ignored but ehi they get in the way so much I had to eventually turn the difficulty down to Supercasual cause I just wanted to be done with it .

and these are my final words on the subject.

speaking of OST:

This I very much disagree with, 3 and 4's OST was very good, but 5 is outstanding, each to their own.

I like all 3 OSTs but this one has GREAT tracks like Whims of Fate, Rivers in the Desert, Life will Change and Jaldabaoth(Final boss) theme which are all fantastic and I still turn to them routinely. Nothing is hands down over the other.

Yeah, P5 blows the prior games out of the water though P4 is still a close 2nd.

I really need to go back and finish P1 and P2 some day, but they aren't nearly as good.

Me too, hopefully they release up to date versions for the PS3/PS4.

I actually enjoyed Persona 4's story a bit more, It also felt that you had more freedom to do what you want in P3/P4, you didn't have Morgana telling you what to do half the time, but when it comes to soundtrack P5 all the way.

There are rumors that Persona 5 may be getting a "Golden" version. If so we might be seeing it at E3 later this year.
