Black Panther (2018)

Following on from our Captain Marvel costume description and the news that Taika Waititi will be playing Korg in Thor: Ragnarok, we have details on a Black Panther sizzle reel that screened for journos at Marvel's recent tour of the Disney lot.

According to reports, the most memorable scene focused on Lupita Nyong'o's Nakia taking down numerous bad guys in an exciting jungle action sequence. Nakia also featured in shots of several supporting characters (including Danai Gurira's Okoye and Forest Whitaker as Zuri) making their way to Warrior Falls for T’Challa’s coronation.

Of course, Chadwick Boseman's titular hero does pop up in a separate casino fight scene which also involved Everett Ross (Martin Freeman) and the villainous Klaue - who will have his signature mechanical hand - trading one-liners: (“Well, you brought quite the entourage, do you have a mixtape coming out?” “Oh yeah, I’ll actually send you link.”)

As great as all of this sounds, it would be nice to see some of the content for ourselves. Hopefully we'll get to show you guys a little something later on.

Director: Ryan Coogler (Fruitvale Station and Creed)

Cast

The king of the fictional African nation of Wakanda. Producer Kevin Feige described the character as "a bit of a prince, he may even become a bit of a king, but it's all about how this isolationist country [of Wakanda] meets the world."Screenwriter Joe Robert Cole added that after the events of Captain America: Civil War and the death of his father, "...we’ll be able to see [T'Challa] mourning and him starting to take command as king of his own nation." Boseman, who called T'Challa an anti-hero, said that he is "very much aware of the responsibility" and "how important his role and his position is" as the leader of Wakanda. He worked with the same dialect coach he had during Message from the King for the film.Boseman signed a five-film contract with Marvel.
The head of the Dora Milaje. When looking to cast Gurira, director Ryan Coogler had not seen The Walking Dead, in which Gurira portrays the popular character Michonne, and instead wanted her for the part because of her performance in Mother of George. Gurira said that the fighting skills she learned playing Michonne complemented the skills of Okoye, but that "there's a lot of ways that they're extremely different ... Okoye is a whole 'nother thing."
T'Challa's mother. Calliet also served as Bassett's trainer, working with her before she began filming and while she was on set, and helped to craft her diet. He created high-intensity interval training circuits for Bassett focused on her lower body, as they are "the fastest and the most effective way to burn fat", which consisted of mountain climbers, jump squats, lunges, push-ups and high knees, in intervals of 30 seconds on, 30 seconds off, up to an hour at a time.

Additionally, Florence Kasumba and John Kani reprise their roles as Ayo and T'Chaka respectively from Captain America: Civil War. Winston Duke is cast as M'Baku / Man-Ape, the leader of a rival Wakandan tribe, while Sterling K. Brown is cast as N'Jobu, a figure from T'Challa's past, and Letitia Wright is cast as Shuri. Phylicia Rashad and Atandwa Kani have been cast in undisclosed roles

Coming out Feb 16th 2018

I can't really tell if there's enough here to set it apart from a standard superhero movie. At least it looks like Wakanda has an interesting mix of a tribal aesthetic and futuristic technology, and the main character being a superhero king might be an interesting change of pace.

I'm pumped cause the director of Fruitvale Station and Creed is doing it

The main scene opens on Panther and the Dora Milaje entering a casino where they’re attempting to catch Klaue. He has a deal with Martin Freeman’s Everett Ross, who has brought diamonds in exchange for vibranium. T’Challa’s sister gets impatient and starts a fight. The scene with Panther facing down Klaue, who’s new arm turns into a gun and blasts a table the hero tries to block the shot with. Then it was followed up by a sizzle reel/trailer that took in the full scope of the movie. We saw T’Challa becoming the king and talking about the kind of ruler he wants to be. Cut to Michael B. Jordan’s Killmonger confronting him about “doing nothing”, then cut to Panther and the Dora Milaje chasing Klaue through a city. T’Challa hits his chest while wearing a business suit and the suit nano-tech covers him in the Panther costume. He attacks Klaue’s car, runs up a wall and midair throws a staff at the ground that the car smashes into. Then we see Killmonger sparring with Panther out of costume with a cut to Jordan’s suit appearing around him like Panthers.

My man, the movie looks badass, pimpin', and gangsta.  Plus, T'Challa looks like he is going full beast mode.

Its also good to see Redemption for Michael B Jordan in Marvel after how wasted he was in Fantastic Four 2015

Happy he's working with his director Ryan Coogler who also did Fruitvale Station and Creed with him

Ok it was garbage, but it was great either. Probably one of the worst Spiderman i've seen in acting roles. I'd rather watch X3 than Spiderman Homecoming. But thats just my opinion. Black Panther looks fucking great though, can't wait until it releases.

TBH, he's not the only person who disliked Homecoming.  I've heard other people on the Internet shitting on Homecoming.

Look I love Homecoming just as much as the majority of people have.  That being said, I feel that Black Panther is going to be a better film.

While I say you're list is awesome, Spider-Man Homecoming is a part of Sony as well unfortunately.

Yeah but they had no creative into it

It was all Kevin Feige and his team

Not Avi Arad bullshit

So its MCU not Sony

Venom is Sony bullshit

True.  But still, it is a part of Sony regardless if they had no creative part in it in which I am grateful for.
