BOYCOTT BATTLEFRONT 2

Recommended Posts

There have been posts on Reddit and twitter of EA pr condoning the absurd amount of time it takes to unlock hero characters in game. Players are reporting 40 hours of game play to unlock a single hero. EA's response was that it encourages a sense of pride and accomplishment which was then quickly down voted and is currently the most down voted post in Reddit history. Phil should forgo purchasing and playing Battlefront 2 in order to aid gamers in protesting the micro-transactions that currently plague modern games.

Why would I boycott a perfectly good game that doesn't require lootboxes to play it? Before some smart-ass says I haven't played it I tried the beta and it's a good indication of how it will play.

People boycotting things like this really need to get a life. If a game is fun that's what matters.

I agree that what EA is doing to online multiplayer is bullshit, but I don't really understand the outrage over something like loot boxes that are ultimately optional.

I know, I've heard all the excuses like "it's pay-to-win", it sets a bad precedent, etc...

But at the end of the day, if you're that serious about it, the best way to show EA is to vote with your wallet and not buy the game.

That's the thing, though, isn't it? As much as people complain, they still want to buy the game, so they demand it be changed so they can buy it anyway without feeling guilty about it.

As ive said before, Boycotting just doesn't work in General.

Unless you can tie and relate Battlefront 2 to ISIS or something, nowhere near enough people will join and make even a slight difference. The Star Wars Fanbase is way to big, people will buy it on name alone.

They also reduced the reward for completing the main campaign by 75%. No word yet on any changes in multiplayer rewards.

People want to buy and enjoy the game. That's the point of raising a fuss. If I there's a restaurant that I love but the service is terrible, I'm going to complain to the management because I want to keep eating there. If they change, great! If not, I stop giving them my business.

There's speculation that EA knew this was going to happen and intentionally made prices sky high. They did this because after the initial backlash, they can say "We heard you! We're reducing prices!" and the gullible players can gleefully exclaim that EA listened to them. The reduced prices by 75%!!!! The reality is that those items are still going to be locked behind a grind and the game will still push lootboxes down your throat up to the point of potentially being pay-to-win. EA has changed the criticism from "This full priced game has P2W lootboxes" into "This game requires an insane grind or a lot of money to unlock basic functionality" and then fixed THAT problem. The original issue is still there but hey, don't look there! EA fixed the current, major problem! Let's pre-order again!!

The sad reality is that it's not going to matter. Buyers will line up at the trough. They don't care that EA is peeing in it; hey, developers have got to go to the bathroom right? Besides, they used to be shitting in it too but have agreed to stop doing that so DIG IN!

If ppl don’t buy the game because of what they are doing and it hit their bottomline it may caise them to change.  Profit is what is the main reason for the lootboxes in majority of EA games nowadays.  Look at NFS: payback and it’s shit upgrade system.  Parts from lootboxes are rng based cause ppl to either grind to get he required parts or shell out money.

Battlefront 2 being a multiplayer game and having the ability of ppl purchasing high powered weapons become pay to win.

EA is motivated by money.  If ppl stop purchasing their games they don’t make money and may change their practices with the lootboxes.  If ppl don’t voice their opinions nothing will change.

You may thing it’s stupid that ppl are boycotting Battlefront 2, but it’s their rights as consumers.

People are also allowed to disagree/comment on it too ya know. The boycotting games because of lootboxes thing is a fad for reasons posters above have kindly commented.

That why I didn’t say anything about your comment but your attitude.

Also, you know why Microsoft didn’t have the Xbox One online 24/7.  Or the fact that they changed their DRM policy.  It’s becausr ppl boycott the XB1.  The backlash that these companies may cause change and let them rethink their new policy.

No man, Im just saying its not going to work. Star Wars by name alone is to powerful to knock down with a boycott, because the number of fans who just want a new game to dick around in  will outwiegh the number of gamers that want  a fun fair competitive experience.

And Im sure you've been keeping up with the news? You won't even be allowed to get epics, weapons, and all this pay to win untill you even reach a certain level. So its not all day one buy all the crates. For those that do they are shooting themselves in the dick

This is exactly what EA is hoping you'll say.

As usual, we'll see the same old excuses trotted out as people open their wallets.

"Me not buying isn't going to effect anything."

"It's already going to sell well."

"Game devs have to make money."

"Games haven't increased in price. We're actually getting games cheaper!"

EA and the others will be giddy with anticipation, already planning on just how far they can push with the next game.

Honestly have zero interest in buying any Star Wars related game, always thought the films were overrated, but I agree with people saying that if you feel strongly enough about it don't buy it, I used to be a big WWE fan, but because the tv shows are garbage, I have not bought anything WWE related for close too 4 years and I refuse to until the tv product improves to the standard it once was, WWE may still make good money, but there are plenty of other entertaining things I can spend my money on instead, video games, lesbian porn, blow up d.... I mean dvds, my point being if you really like this game, but hate EA's business practice, just think of all other great items you can buy and therefore you won't miss Battlefront 2.

Here is another reason why Phil should skip this game. As you can see this game is brand new yet the views are extremely low. This is likely due to how disappointed people are with the game. It wouldn't be profitable to play Battlefront 2.

The game is not out yet, it releases on the 17th of November. People playing now have the EA early access and they can only play the first 10 hours.

This section of the forums is about Phil's channels, not general gaming discussions

This topic is about a game that Phil is gong to play on his channel.  Beside, there are topics within this section that have to do with Phil’s sleep, diet, and his pateron.  I don’t see you complaining about those.  What can come up with a good rebutal to majority of the posters is his thread.

True, no need for it to be here.

Once again, it’s about a game that Phil is going to play on his channel.  Also, there are topics about Pateron, his sleep schedule, and his diet in this section.  But you and LastRambo341only called this topic out.  Is this your best rebutal in this debate.....

That is not 100% accurate. The people that have access to the 10 hour trial are using EA Access or Origin to get access to a 10 hour trial; however, if you preordered a certain edition like I did you can play the FULL game starting on the 14th of November.

If it is about a game, it should go to the playthroughs section. The poster just wanted to spread his silly campaign.

In regrads to the sleep and diet threads, one at a time :)

Not only is the game not out yet you're comparing it to games that are always at the top of the charts. This proves nothing.

Nope.... If you’re going complain about a topic being in a wrong section then you should complain about the others.  If yoi don’t think it makes you look hypocritical.
