Phil's computer hardware setup

Recommended Posts

I'm sorry if this has been answered many times. But I'm curious to know what Phil's computer hardware setup is like. Has it been said what his computer specs are?

Also, what peripheral equipment does he use?

He was doing more than just playing minecraft. He was playing and recording at 1080p running at 60 frames per second using a graphics card from 2013.

Wow! That must be one tough computer.

In OBS he had the cpu do the encoding thats why the video froze every few seconds during the minecraft playthrough, the 780 Ti's built in video encoder was not being used. He did do one minecraft session using the GPU's built in encoder but he used a bitrate that was too low which resulted in a high amount of compression artifacts. He could have raised the bitrate to improve the quality but twitch had a strict policy regarding using bitrates above their recommended limit.

He may be able to do pc gaming again using the GPU's encoder if twitch raises or eliminates their bitrate limitation. An alternative solution would be to use the cpu to do the encoding but then stream at 720p 60fps or 1080p 30fps so that the cpu wouldn't peak at 100% usage which was happening when he was doing 1080p @ 60fps.
