Easy way for a streamer to earn money, in theory.

This topic is controversial that's why the spoiler. Disclaimer: This is just general theorization, I totally swear it has nothing to do with DSP.

Spoiler

This is what I noticed:

People are willing to drop $100 to give a stupid name to a random Pokemon that will never be used or to build a stupid thing in Minecraft that will be immediately forgotten.  It seems the people don't care what happens with the money as long they have an excuse to spend it. The Pokemon streams are godawful, the most boring streams Phil has done but still these people are willing to donate $150 every stream. They only see the Pokemon streams as a good excuse to unload money. It seems it has nothing to do with supporting Phil else they would donate this money any time, it's $100 just to name a Pokemon that you won't ever see again.

Tevin does a charity fundraiser, is praised for it by everyone and people happily throw money at him. Tevin does literally nothing and gets big praise for it. People praise him that he spends their own money on a charity, something they could do themselves and not give a fuck about Tevin. It's not about giving money to the charity, it's about throwing the money at Tevin, the charity is just a good excuse to them. These people don't care about helping others or supporting charities, they just see this as a good opportunity to unload their money. And Tevin collects the praise for doing absolutely nothing.

How would a streamer get these people, who only wait for the right excuse to unload their money, to unload the money consistently every day? You could only stream Pokemon or Minecraft and make them pay to name/build stuff, but charities give you a big popularity boost for doing absolutely nothing.

The resulting idea: Donate 10% of your earnings to charities. It gives those people a good excuse to unload money, gives them a good feeling they are doing something good, gives you positive PR, everyone will love you for supporting charities (even though none of them actually cares about them). Of course the streamer could donate more than 10% but as I said those people don't care about the charities, they just need an excuse to throw money around and get 5 seconds of attention.

Of course you could combine things, pay to name a Pokemon and support a charity for max effect.

The main negative is to potentially lose the audience that actually tunes in to see new games and/or Phil's opinion about it, or the ones that want other games besides Minecraft & Pokémon, (or similar), and do donate if they like the playthrough, (so the normal donors, not the ones you're describing).

It could work, but also there's a risk to it. Phil would need to do this and see for experience because otherwise is just speculation that could go one way or the other.

However, on the charity thing, you nailed, Babyman, and I'm sure that if Phil changed his opinion (I know his stance about it) & decided to make one, even if it's percentage-wise, some people would make the double standard and blame him to use it as means of gaining popularity, when praising others for the same thing, mainly because of their bias.

It's just hypothetical examples what a streamer could possibly do for easy money.

Spoiler

Some of Phil's biggest supporters give him money to stick it to the detractors. The more detractors will shit on Phil the more money people might give him. So if Phil does a charity and now detractors start to shit on him then his big fans would drop even more money on it. To stick it to the detractors and for the charity.

The same thing when detractors give Tevin money. They are so stupid that they think that by giving Tevin money they stick it to DSP, especially with the charity. They are so stupid that they used the charity, where they give Tevin money, to point out how Tevin is a better person. They give Tevin money and that makes them think he's a better person than DSP. If they cared about the charity they could just donate themselves any day. But they needed to give the money to Tevin because that's what they care about.

Also if detractors will shit on Phil for doing a charity that might them look bad in they eyes of other detractors. I'm sure there would be detractors who would praise Phil for it.
