KGhaleon 1785
Instead of spamming the random thread, I'm going to post anything related to Rise in this thread. Including MHR news and updates. Game is out on Switch and it looks&feels great on the hybrid console. It's just a smaller handheld version of World.
KGhaleon 1785
My first impression after the first day is that wirebug is pretty rad once you get the hang of it. You can literally wirebug up onto buildings and tall structures, even find hidden stuff like old letters all over the maps for a sidequest. The training area is pretty huge and basically an upgraded version of the one from World, teaches you everything you need to know about combat and combos. There's a tree behind the Buddy plaza that has some hidden vines behind it that will take you to a cohoot nest which gives you rewards for the quests you've completed. Did some multiplayer last night with some Japanese players and it was fun af. The maps are surprisingly huge and I've only been to 3 of them so far. :edit: Ok, just did the first rampage event. Definitely not what I expected. The monsters are obviously much weaker and go down in a few shots, so you basically just setup turrets, cannons and shit and fire on the enemies until they flee. If you attack them up close with your weapons, you do a huge amount of damage I guess because their defense sucks. My longsword was doing 100 damage per hit. It's a fun tower defense minigame, but is in no way a monster hunter fight.
musicboy 156
Good to see you're playing it. I was curious about this game for a while now. I haven't played it yet, but from what I've seen, the game looks cool. Edited March 28 by musicboy
KGhaleon 1785
Yeah if I wasn't sick I would've gotten a lot further. Right now I'm only on 4 star village missions. The aknosom armor set is really cool.
KGhaleon 1785
Hit the 6 star missions last night and the difficulty definitely starts to ramp up when they start sending you on missions to fight harder shit. Almudron was a really fun boss with his mud attacks and the fact that he could create platforms that you could wirebug between to slap him in the face. I probably need to start doing more multiplayer hub quests as I'm getting near the end of the solo ones. I'm nervous because I haven't even seen Rajang or that big new spider boss. KGhaleon 1785
Did some more hub multiplayer quests tonight. The 3 star Magnamalo fight was seriously the most insane fight I've had in this game so far, honestly would've been murdered but a trio of Japanese players showed up and helped take him down. Also Goss harag is a cool fight, especially when he pulls his ice swords out. Breaking his swords with a well timed longsword slash felt good.
KGhaleon 1785
I finished all the village quests and they just abruptly end after a while, with nothing further to do. No indication if you're in high rank or what. I guess updates and expansions will add more to the solo section of the game. I moved over to the multiplayer hub quests and just unlocked High rank upon reaching 4 Star, which opened a whole new part of the game and the remixed HR maps. I thought there wasn't much else to do, but I guess I'm just getting started. Fuck rampage mode though, that sucks in multiplayer unless you have a team of people going in with you. KGhaleon 1785
So high rank gear is really bloody expense, but there's a nice trick to getting hundreds of thousands of zenny easily. Took me 30 minutes and I had over a million.

Anyway, good to see you are enjoying the 4 star and upward village missions. I finished the village missions a long time ago. I'm mainly doing the high rank hub quests, and I'm about 7 star right now. At some point this week I'm planning to grind the Rajang set, it looks pretty spicy.

Those Japanese love these type of games, where you wander around large open spaces, and fight monsters. Like for example PSO on the dreamcast is another one. 20 years later, and they still play it online on private servers. The same with the one on the gamecube. Yeah, that Goss Harag is sick! I saw the ice swords thing, and breaking them, in a vid a few days ago. Monster Hunter has alot of really cool boss monsters and mechanics. And the wirebug thing, reminds me of Samus Aran's grapple beam. Edited April 6 by musicboy
KGhaleon 1785
Wirebug is more like attack on titan combat. Finished the story tonight, or what is available, beat the boss at the end of the multiplayer hub and got a "To be continued," so I guess I'll need to wait for content updates for more story as per the usual. I guess I'll be grinding the elder dragons for their armor sets next. I was shocked that Magnamalo, the flagship monster, only has rarity 6 armor. That's a joke.
