God Of War 3 Remastered Coming to Playstation 4

And the sound of no one giving a shit rocked the entire universe.

The excitement for the GoW franchise has severely diminished over the years from what I've seen.

I doubt it, yeah Ascension didn't sell all that great (GOWA = 2m copies / GOW3 = 5m copies) , but that was because people got tired of all the prequels and wanted a proper sequel. Given the new audience on PS4 and the fans waiting for the next installment, releasing GOW 3 is just a way to hype up for the release of GOW4. Pretty sure people will jump in to GOW4 with no problems.

As for this remaster, as a GOW fan, $40 seems freaking ridiculous for just 1080p, targeting 60fps and Photo Mode. I'll probably wait till it's $20.

I've got mixed feelings on this one. On one hand, I loved God of War 3 (2 is still my personal favorite) and it was a gorgeous game as it is, but the frame rate wasn't very smooth, so giving it the full 1080p/60fps treatment is definitely gonna make it shine.

On the other hand, I'm kinda tired of remasters at this point. I had a few of the PS2 HD Collections on the PS3 but that's about it. I sometimes feel like these are geared more towards gamers who have never played the games on their original platforms and now want to get into these series (with an added fresh coat of paint), rather than those who've played them before and want an upgrade.

Also, I don't have a PS4 anyway, so... *shrug*

It is exactly that, Sony explained that many Wii and 360 owners jumped into PS4 for this generation, they have in mind that many PS4 owners never had a chance to play PS3 exclusives.

That's because the last real one was released 5 years ago and a new one hasn't been announced yet. Flames can be rekindled though, and E3 is the strongest spark.

The simple reason they don't remaster the first two God of War games is simple: Never remaster a remaster.

The first two were updated for PS3, leaving the third to be getting the remastered treatment. This is also to get people hyped for a 4th game, when it comes out.

Are they getting a bit crazy with all these last-gen games coming out at 1080p and 60fps? Sure. But keep in mind the PS4s are selling at a record high, higher then WiiUs and Xbox Ones. The best thing they can do here is introduce games from the last-gen for those who switched over to this-gen.

They were not really remastered they were made 720p on the ps3.

Why not remaster the games again in full hd to give more value to the customer.

720p wasn't available on the PS2, so in fact, they upgraded it. Is it the same as remastering? That's personal opinion, neither here or there.

The previous games, of any last generation, usually face price drops when consoles are at an all-time low. This makes those that want to experience those games able too. There are some exceptions.

Look at how many times they keep putting out ff7 again if people buy it they will keep doing these remasters if you ask me. FF7 is not even a remaster in any way they just port it again and again and now its coming to ps4 as same game and graphics and it will still sell well.

You know I just thought of something. The GOW3 platinum had a link to the next game which ended up being Ghost of Sparta, what if they pull it off again with the remaster and add site for GOW4. Just a thought. Also many Gafters believe Santa Monica might add something at the end just to tie in to GOW4 which would make remastering GOW3 some sense.
